I’m being waked up in the early morning by red-eye flights again. And this is a cause for celebration!
When the wind is from the north, flights to the airport come right over the house while following the river. And the first years I lived here, it was constant from about 5 a m on. For the last 2 or so years – no flights at that hour ever. A clear sign the economy was tanking – especially because the flights didn’t really slow even right after 9/11.
Now the red-eye flights are starting up again. Noticed the first a few weeks ago. Seem to be several more now, fairly constant. So businesses and folk are all more willing to spend money to fly, rather than txt, skype or teleconference.
A hidden indicator of a recovering economy.
