The Neighbors Are Gone!

April 27, 2011 By pgarry

No, I don’t mean that literally. Visually, though, all the neighbors I can see through the woods in the winter have now disappeared totally. The neighbors across the drive have no window facing me, so in a way, they are always gone. The white condo across the street has blended back into the landscape. I can still, for a few days until the oaks and walnuts are totally out, see the brick condos across Taft.

So it’s just me and the deer and the critter families. There were three young bucks this morning, antlers just beginning to show velvety on their foreheads. And a migrator, a rosebreasted grosbeak – astonishing and beautiful – sharing one of the feeders.

As soon as the sun starts to shine again, I’ll put out the hummingbird feeders, so my little guys will know I’m excited about their return.
