Small space, feels great, wonderful aromas, creative menu and creative folks – that’s how I define Burnell’s, 915 Vine, between 9th and Court.
The white bean hummus is rapidly becoming my favorite, after one lunch and one dinner in the old Mayberry space (which has now moved to Main Street, a bit north of Central Parkway.)? I also love the toasted flatbread which comes with it, the variety of olives, all that lemon.
And then there’s the toasted challah that comes with their wild mushrooms – super light and not hard.? Plus the yukon gratin, a second cousin to Mayberry’s potato casserole.? Today my sister and I each had the tomato basil soup with goat cheese.? Never had anything near it for flavor and texture.? Actually used the challah to scoop some of it up.
Meat eating friends assure me it’s wonderful, too – that the meat is done perfectly, creative and flavorful.? Two young guys, excellent wait staff.? Lunch every day, just started serving dinner Wednesday through Saturday.
Wait til you have one of the home-baked cookies just out of the oven.? This is a special place!
