An interesting article in the New York Times Op-Ed page last week – people are marrying out of their faith pretty often these days. But they almost never marry out of their party!
So Catholic liberals may marry Protestants, Jews or folk of other faiths – but they are not marrying conservatives.
The gist / point of the article was that marrying out of the faith, while seeming simple, can still trip couples up.
I wouldn’t disagree, but I was laughing about not marrying out of the value system that is a political party these days. I would certainly never consider such a thing, and I expect most of my friends wouldn’t either. Catholic, Presbyterian, pagan – who cares? but no conservatives need apply!
