Play Review: Around the World in 80 Days

December 8, 2013 By pgarry

What a treat! The annual holiday musical this year at Ensemble Theatre is a brand-new version of Around the World in 80 Days, by our very own Joseph McDonough and David Kisor.

Perfectly smashing all on its own – and with a great crop of 17 local actors all over that state, and the moving stairways and a tucked-back hallway. Plus, in a play with only one really defined role of color – an Indian princess – there are 4 of Cincinnati’s best black actors. Hurray for the Ensemble!

Ken Early, a fine actor, is Phileas Fogg and can also sing a great song – as can the entire cast. Tori Wiggins plays the Indian princess. The other two key roles are Michael G. Bath as Passepartout and Annie Fitzpatrick as Inspector Fix.

The holidays are meant for fun – and this is surely fun – you need to give yourself permission to spend a lighthearted evening at the Ensemble. : >
